5. What kind of government is in charge of your home country, how did it affect your life and how has democracy in America been a change?

The government in China is headed by the Communist Party, which is quite responsible and well-respected, and has been long seeking the prosperity and high-quality life for Chinese people. Looking back at the Sichuan earthquake, this mechanism is effective while disasters occurred. What’s more, Chinese government is also quite friendly to other countries, which is agreed unanimously by the whole world. Though the government is young---established in 1945, as a citizen of China, I can feel its tremendous change as well as its efforts to seek democracy and human rights for its people over the decades.

Concerning about the democracy of America, as far as I know, the biggest achievement in this area might be the elimination or at least the decrease of the discrimination of the Black people, which is quite a big process and worth learning from to other countries which has the same problem domestically.

1. What could SCSU do to make your stay on campus better?

As a foreign student, I do want to express my gratitude to SCSU, for it rendered me the good chance to have the excellent educational environment so that I can make progress quickly there. With regard to some suggestions, I do hope that there could be more societies in SCSU, because I believe that through the various societies which we have interest in, we can improve ourselves both mentally and physically in a better way. And meanwhile, it is also a good opportunity that enables us to exchange views with other students or enjoy good time with them as well.

The increase of the lecture given by the celebrities in all circles of the society might be welcomed among all the students in SCSU. In fact, I love these kinds of lecture, I always get inspired when have a listen to that.

8. What religious holidays or other cultural events do you or others celebrate; can you explain your traditions for each? 

       8b Do you have any daily rituals in regards to your religious beliefs?

There are many cultural events and traditional festivals in China. And I always celebrate it with my friends even in other country out of China. Here I want to take the Mid-Autumn festival as an example.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is on the August 15^th of lunar calendar each year. On that day, every Chinese people are used to get together to have a nice dinner, and admire the full moon, eating the mooncake which is made round to represent the reunion. About the tradition, there is an old story  happened in ancient times: Once upon a time, a man named Hou Yi, he has a beautiful wife named Chang'e. One day, he became hunting, met the Queen Mother, the first to seek immortality, the dose of immortality, we will be able to immediately immortal. When Ho was reluctant wife put in the possession of immortality underneath his pillow. Three days later, he became hunting again. She was not taking advantage of Hou Yi, immortality Tundao the stomach and immediately flew to the Moon became cents.

2. Could you tell me a secret about yourself that very few people here know about and that shows us well, who you are and what you stand for?

I am Yue Wang. The identification of a person varies from different occasions. There are many roles for a person to play during ones life. For me, I am from China, so when I am in America, I stand for my beloved and great country; When I study in the SCSU, I stand for a ordinary student and my job is studying; And on the society, I am a citizen, I have many political rights, and for certainty, at the same time I must shoulder some responsibility for the society, such as helping those who need help, protecting the environment, and making contributions to the society and so on.

4. What are the typical greetings in your culture and what do they mean?

As a country which is famous for its long history of serious etiquette, there so many greetings in China. The usage of them varies from different person, different districts, and different situations. For example, people in northern China may have distinct way to greeting people with whose who are in southern China while they see each other. At the same time, the words or the way young people and senior people use while greeting are quite different. But basically, there are several simple greetings that are suitable to use everywhere in China. Here I will list them as followings:

“Ni hao” means “Hello”, this is the basic greeting which usually used between acquaintances who hardly know each other or even between strangers.

“Shang wu hao” means “good morning”; “xia wu hao” means “good afternoon” and “wan shang hao” means “good evening”.

3. Which country`s food do you like the most? What are the similarities and differences between it and your own culture`s food?

 I like the Chinese delicacy the most. There are four famous four major cuisines in China: Huaiyang cuisines, Sichuan cuisines, Lu cuisines, and Yue cuisines. All of them are delicious. Chinese people have three meals every day. And we attach great importance to the nutrition. Each of meal must have the vegetable and meat at the same time. And there are tremendous ways of making these delicacies, which make it a profound and interesting artist.

 

6.  What different modes of transportation are used in your country?

With a vast territory and quite different terrains, there is no doubt that China has many different modes of transportation. For passengers, there are passenger aircrafts, passenger ships, trains, buss, cars, coaches, motor mobiles, and bicycles. Once deciding the destination, people could choose the way of transportation according to their demands and circumstances, and what’s worth mentioning, the Chinese aggregate passengers traffic of civil aviation as well as the number of the people who own the private cars has ranked the first of the world. And for goods transit, there also a variety of mode of transportation, such as air truck, cargo ship, vans, and so on.

7. At what age do you start school? Are you under a lot of stress in school??

For about 4 years old, I start school. Actually it is the kindergarten, and to some extent people call it “school” in China. I believe that stress always exist everywhere, what matters most is how do you see it, and how do you cope with it. Of course nobody likes stress, it impedes our footstep toward the destination and frozen our actions. Sometimes it may hurt mood or even the health. But still, it does not mean that all the stress are harmful, if we can put is on a correct position and face it with positive attitude, than it may transform from bad factor to incentive and motivation for you to achieve success. For me, out of my sunny attitude towards life, I can always get over some obstacles by means of chatting with friends, having a short trip, or listening to the music and etc.

10.Can you describe a typical day for a child in your country?

I would like to take a 5-year-old child as an example. He gets up at 8:00 in the morning, and then he should go to the kindergarten. At kindergarten, he spends about 6 hours playing, singing, and chatting with other children. During this time, teachers also teach them some basic skills, or teach them the instrument or something they interested in. Lacking of time to pick their children, some parents chose to leave children at kindergarten at lunchtime, so at noon, some of the children eating together. They have no homework. Once back home, parents like to play with them and enjoy the happiness of family.

 

9. How would you describe famous sports in your country?

There are lots of famous sports in China which are worth being proud of. For example, China always ranks the leading position in the area like table-tennis, diving, gymnastics in Olympic game or International tournaments. And for recent years, China has made many breakthroughs in some new areas such as tennis, and 110-metres hurdle which I believe foreign people may have heart about. But as far as I concerned, the most famous sports in China is still table tennis. It is called the “National Ball”. In China, almost every people could play it, and enjoy a lot spending time with friends on it, whether a 4-year-old child or a 99-year-old senior people can have a good mastery of it. It is a good training for your body as well as a good way of relaxing, and when playing, you need balance yourself well, and coordinate each part of yourself.
